Drawing 54 ~ a two toned rose from my Valentine. It is still going strong and I fell in love with how delicate and graceful the leaves are under the flower petals ( See Detail below). The scientific term is “sepal”. Interestingly these are the original green coverings of the rose bud before it opens.
- Sepal – One of the units of the calyx. These are the green coverings of a flower bud that open to reveal the petals of the rose. Roses usually have 5 sepals. From: http://www.rose.org/rose-care-articles/basic-rose-terminology/
Medium: ink, pencil on crisp bleedproof paper for the integrity of the ink line…and then couldn’t help myself ~ I just had to add color! Chalk Pastel to rub into this drawing.
