Drawing 237 ~ of a few of my father’s prized possessions in his nursing home room, sitting beside a bottle of skin lotion and antiseptic cleanser .
He’s taken his glasses off, getting prepped for bedtime by the personal care worker.
Behind his glasses is a photo of our mother, wearing a blue and white polka-dotted dress. This photo is the favourite one, enlarged to grace her coffin during her funeral in 1996. And in front of the photo is a little porcelain ‘Hunting hound’, given to my father from the Frontenac Hunt Club in appreciation for his years of service as a blacksmith to the riders during the fox hunts.
That little dog didn’t make it to the nursing home at first, and when it was found and brought to him- he was a happy camper ~ He just LOVES it!
